Thiago starred in a team which also featured Luis Suarez's son Benjamin, 10, as they went the distance at a tournament held by Rayados in Kissimmee, Florida. Of the 300 teams to participate, which included 30 international sides, Miami's U12 team reached the final to face Florida Kraze. The Herons celebrated a dominant 4-0 victory in that encounter as Thiago, donning his father's famous No.10 jersey, scored a beauty to land his team the winners' medal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
While Messi and Suarez Jr taste their first bit of success for Miami, their fathers will be out for CONCACAF Champions Cup glory later on Wednesday. The Herons host Liga MX giants CF Monterrey in the first leg of their quarter-final, with Suarez set to play a key role. It is not yet known whether Messi has recovered from his hamstring injury in time to feature in the starting XI, but his Uruguayan strike partner has insisted that Miami can "win without him".

WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI?
Whether it's as a starter or from the bench, it seems likely Messi will feature in some capacity against Monterrey after returning to training on Tuesday. Miami are out to win only the second trophy of their entire history, which remains the Leagues Cup Messi helped them secure last term.
