Middlesbrough defender Ryan Shotton is currently on the sidelines with a knee problem, and is set to miss the remainder of 2018.

Shotton picked up the injury during Boro’s 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday last month, and has missed his team’s last three matches against Rotherham United, Derby County and Stoke City.

The 30-year-old’s form has been impressive this season, making 13 Championship appearances before picking up an injury, which is a big blow to Tony Pulis’ team.

In an earlier tweet, Shotton revealed that he had suffered ‘a partial tear on his ACL’, before discussing the timeline in terms of a return.

Shotton, who moved to the Riverside Stadium from Birmingham City in 2017, revealed that he is ‘working on a five-week program’ as he bids to return to fitness.
